My papa's Waltz

In this poem I wasn't really sure what it was about. When I first read I had a feeling that had to do with a little boy being beaten by his father, when he was drunk. The waltz's part was a metaphor of how some people say "you wanna dance" as in a fight. Or that it was a repeating pattern that the dad had when he was drunk. After I read it over and over again and really thought about what this poem meant, it didn't necessarily mean that the little boy was being beat. There was no fact or proof that this little boy was being beat, there were so many unclear lines that the author used. Anything could of meant anything, but if you think about it a lot of writers to that to their poem so that the reader thinks about their poems in a different then other people might, or they get a different intention from it. Once you start thinking about the opposite of this poem, I started to take every line by it's self, and see what they meant with both of the thoughts that I had. I think the author chose to do this because it pulls you deeper and deeper into the poem, like what happened to me. I read it over and over and over again to see which reason was more correct. Each time I read I got a different feel for it and more thoughts on what the author meant by the words he chose and his rhythm of his words.

Poem from social awareness project

*just wanted it with all my other poems.

The beating
I'm not gay i say!
Slap
Slam
Slip
Still
Survive
The horrible Beating.
My heart is racing
fast as can be
as the boys all start laughing at me.
They hear a teacher,
they
run as fast as they can, to get away from me.
I sit there still, but the room spinning around me.
I hear a young women
"Are you ok"
But i can't answer, the blood from my nose is dripping down to my mouth, my lips feel like they can't open, i was to hurt to even start to cry.
I managed to open my mouth
the only words that came out were
"Help."

Narrative Poem modeled after "Please don't take my air jordans"

People laugh at me
when I wear the same clothes
every day.

I would kill.
for those shoes everyone is wearing these days,

I got no money,
no job,
no way to be who I want to be.

I fall in the wrong crowd.
but it's ok I really don't mind.
sometimes.

I wish my image was like
the girls in the magazine
but
i got no money,
no job,
no way to be who i want to be.

The incident

"No playing in the house,"
she says,
but as soon as she leaves
we play.

The ball glides from person to person.
doing tricks we learned in soccer practice
tackling each other to wrangle for the ball
Our feet start to quicken up.

Were now playing head, catch,
my favorite game
I'm in the middle
throwing the ball

I throw the ball to Jimmy
"catch"
he heads it
but not back to me.

The next thing I know
I'm standing in front of my mom's
favorite antique, shattered on the floor
"No playing in the house"
i hear over
and
over again.

Mona Lisa

Mona Lisa

The picture has dark colors.
Shes not looking straight at the camera.
She has a smirk on her face.
Her clothing is very formal.
The background is dull.

The picture could have dark colors because it symbolizes the mood of the painting.
She is looking in a different direction to show how she isnt concentrating at the camera as she is being drawn.
Maybe she hasa  smirk on her face because she wants to show that she is mysterious and mishchiefious.
her clothing is formal because it looks like its a really old picture so she could be in her normal clothing but looks formal to me.
The background is dull and blurry because the picture is mainly on Mona Lisa.

The whole picture is supposed to revovle around her, it almost looks like she is powerful, and willful. Shes not starring at the camera, with her head held high and she looks happy and has a lot of pride.

Incident

I think the author was saying how no matter how small you are and what age you are, everyone has a point of a veiw. It resembles bullying and kind of the new kid in town. I think this poem can mean a lot of things, and a lot of themes. This poem means different things to me it resembles racism and bullying, and for someone that was being bullying it would stay with them, for example in the poem it says "From May until December: of all the things that happened there thats all i remember."

Poem from a new article Friday's homework

When it's Time to say Goodbye

I don't want to let go of your grip
I have chills running up and down me when were together
we stay as one for minutes
crying
wishing that you didn't have to go.
your next leave is in a year
and
i already miss you.
Your green camoflauge uniform scratches against my body
and thats when i remember you have to go.
"I'll write you,"
I say.

Poem

Poetry is the light
in the dark

Poetry is the feeling
to your feeling

Poetry
can be anything.

Poetry takes you on a adventure
and you might never come back.

It's to be or not to be,

Poetry is you
in every way.
